Balotelli: I could have scored more against Napoli

Mario Balotelli admits he never scored more in Manchester City's 2-1 Champions League Group A loss to Napoli because he was playing with a fever.

The Italy international, 21, struck the English club's only goal on the night, but two efforts from Edinson Cavani saw City's hopes of qualifying for the last 16 of the competition take a serious hit.

Balotelli believes he could have had more goals to his name, but suggested that illness affected his sharpness in front of the net.

"If I had scored a couple more then it would have been better, but this is football," Balotelli is quoted as saying on La Gazzetta dello Sport."At the interval I went sick because I have been ill for two days. I have a fever, but Mancini knew this.

"City's chances of making the next stage rest on beating Bayern Munich in the final match, and hoping Napoli lose to Villarreal."Qualification? We lost to Napoli but we could have won, you never know what will happen. I am hopeful though," said the forward.
