Arsenal are next, says Jürgen Klopp

Jürgen Klopp

The Borussia Dortmund coach, Jürgen Klopp, has set his sights on a second major scalp at the Emirates on Wednesday after seeing his side beat Bayern Munich away from home yesterday.

Dortmund's 1-0 win at the Allianz Arena took them to within two points of the league leaders and Klopp now sees no reason why his side cannot revive their chances of reaching the knockout stages of the Champions League by beating Arsenal.

"Practically nothing tops beating good teams," he said. "We managed that [against Bayern] and we can do that again on Wednesday. It will be a different challenge, but today was an important sign that we can also do this at Arsenal. It was a perfect day for us."

Klopp's side were 3-1 winners at the Allianz Arena last season too, and while the Dortmund coach admits yesterday's performance was not quite so pretty, he believes it was just as good a performance tactically as Mario Götze's second-half goal proved enough.

"We have forced more misplaced passes out of Bayern than they have made in the past two years put together," he said. "To then score at the decisive moment does need a bit of luck. We did not play the football that we really imagine playing, but we were pretty much in control of Bayern and that is why we have won."

The Bayern coach, Jupp Heynckes, admitted the title race is now wide open after his side's second 1-0 home defeat of the campaign. "I always knew that we would not run away with it," he said. "Dortmund pretty much dominated last year and with Gladbach and Schalke, there are also teams who can cause an upset. It is going to be tight for Dortmund and for us up there."
