City hopes to attract a midfielder in the coming days, but this weekend Arsenals manager Arsene Wenger said the deal is far from complete.
Nasri made his first appearance of the season in Saturday's 0-2 loss to Liverpool and is available for the second leg against Udinese on Wednesday. If the Frenchman played in Italy, can not run for City in the group stage of Champions League, Mancini admitted that it would be a problem.
“It's a big problem if he plays [against Udinese and is cup-tied in the Champions League]," Mancini told reporters.
"I don't know if we would still sign him. I hope we can close in the next 48 hours. We have followed Nasri for 40 days."
