Prandelli pleased of equality with Serbia

euro 2012 liveItaly coach Cesare Prandelli was pleased by the play of his team in a 1-1 draw with Serbia last night.

The coach praised his players and said that his team will fight for success in their last match of the Euro2012 qualifiers against Northern Ireland.

The lack of pressure on the visitors, who were already through to Poland and Ukraine prior to kick-off, had a large influence on the game as Italy struggled to penetrate.

Claudio Marchisio's early goal proved worthless when Branislav Ivanovic struck the equaliser after 25 minutes. Serbia took control of the match, and Prandelli admits his players found it hard on the night.

"It was not easy, but my players were good and attentive," Prandelli told Rai Uno after the game.

"We were happy with some of the nice play we saw. Chiellini played a good game, he has good strength and the ability to play deep."

Looking ahead to their final clash against Northern Ireland on Tuesday, Prandelli admitted he expects improvements.

He concluded: "We will be going to Pescara to play well and to win the game."
