Rosicky returns to training

RositckyCzech Republic captain Tomas Rosicky has returned to training ahead of Thursday’s quarter-final meeting with Portugal.

Arsenal midfielder Rosicky returned to Prague for treatment after sustaining an Achilles injury during the victory over Greece on June 12, but he rejoined the team on Tuesday and was able to take part in Wednesday’s training session.

Team manager Vladimir Smicer had earlier indicated there was very little prospect of Rosicky starting against Portugal.

"Will he be able to play from the start? I don't think so," Smicer told agency CTK. "He hasn't trained for eight days, only doing some work on a bike. In order for him to play in such a tough match, he should at the very least have had three full training sessions in order to be 100% ready.”

Daniel Kolar started in Rosicky’s absence in the 1-0 victory over Poland that saw Czech Republic through to the knockout phase.
