Bolton v Man City Preview

premier league bolton v man city live

Man City opened their Premier League campaign with a 4-0 thumping of Swansea at the Etihad Stadium on Monday night.

Bolton's win at QPR with 4-0 was their best away day in six years.

Wanderers are desperate to keep hold of Gary Cahill but the uncertainty must be playing on a few minds and while Kevin Davies could dominate a side like QPR, City are a different proposition. Vincent Kompany was outstanding last season and Joleon Lescott has started this campaign well.

Mancini has splashed out a club record £38million on Argentina striker Sergio Aguero - scorer of two goals on his debut against Swansea - this summer, and a deal to sign France midfielder Samir Nasri from Arsenal is thought to be nearing conclusion.

"Bolton play football very well - for me, they are a strong team," Mancini said.

"They have started the season very well and the game on Sunday will be very hard.

"They were strong last year and had a fantastic season, and they have a good manager. If we want to win we will have to fight for every ball."

Head-to-head

Manchester City are unbeaten in their last five games against Bolton (W4, D1).

However, City's win on the final day of last season is their only victory in their last six top-flight matches at the Reebok Stadium (W1, D2, L3).

These two sides scored eight of the 18 goals netted in the opening round of Premier League fixtures.

Bolton

Bolton's win at QPR was their biggest away win in the Premier League since beating Everton 4-0 in December 2005.

Owen Coyle's side lost their last five league games in 2010-11, including home defeats to Sunderland and Manchester City.

Bolton committed more fouls (513) than any other Premier League side last term.

Manchester City

According to Opta, Manchester City registered 15 shots on target against Swansea, the most by a Premier League team since Tottenham's 9-1 win against Wigan in November 2009.

City have won six of their last seven league matches.

They have gone 17 league and cup games without a draw (excludes Community Shield).

Joe Hart kept 18 clean sheets last season, the highest tally in the division.
