Chievo chase first away win

sport live serie aChievo coach Domenico Di Carlo hopes his side can build on their victory over Fiorentina last time out by recording their first away win of the Serie A season against Catania on Sunday.

The men from Verona beat Fiorentina 1-0 before the international break to end a three-match losing streak.

The outcome was Chievo's third triumph of the campaign and lifted the Flying Donkeys to 14th in the standings.

"We wanted and needed that win," Di Carlo said. "We took a good step forward against Fiorentina.

"But we have to continue to work hard.

"I want to see a growth from my team in view of the game at Catania."

Sunday's game at the Angelo Massimino stadium is a battle between two sides that could be in a relegation fight at the end of the season.

Di Carlo knows his team needs to start getting more points on the road if they are to defend their Serie A status.

Chievo have mustered just one point in their four games on the road so far.

"We have to invert our negative trend away from home and we must do it on Sunday," Di Carlo said. "Catania, like us, are fighting to avoid the drop this season, and we will need to show our true value against them."

Rivals Catania will fancy their chances of taking a positive result against Chievo with the Sicilians unbeaten at home this season.

The Islanders go into the encounter having already put behind them their 4-0 defeat at AC Milan last time out.

That result ended a six-match unbeaten run for Vincenzo Montella's men and dropped the team to eighth place.

"My players have been training hard and they are looking forward to Sunday's game," Montella said. "We've done well at home so far and I expect a good result on Sunday."

Catania will be without suspended midfielder Davide Lanzafame.
