Champions Dortmund relishing triple challenge
Borussia Dortmund's Roman Weidenfeller says the German champions are relishing taking on Bavarian giants Bayern Munich, Premier League side Arsenal and arch-rivals Schalke in the next two weeks.
Dortmund, second in the German league, are at leaders Bayern Munich in Saturday's plum tie in the Bundesliga, then face Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium a week next Wednesday in a must-win Champions League Group F clash.
They then host neighbours and bitter rivals Schalke in Dortmund on November 26 and are looking for their first home win over the Royal Blues in four years.
Having gone unbeaten in their last six Bundesliga matches, Weidenfeller says Dortmund are especially relishing attacking Bayern's five-point lead at the top of the table.
"Bayern, Arsenal, Schalke - that sounds like music to the ears," the 31-year-old goalkeeper told German magazine Kicker.
"Of course, Bayern have an exceptional team, but why shouldn't we be able to beat them?
"Maybe they have the better squad, but we can make up for that with our team unity.
"We're getting close (in the table) and whoever has a five-point lead at this stage in the season is not yet the champions."
Dortmund have been in impressive form recently by scoring five goals past both Cologne and Wolfsburg in the German league, but are third in Group F and must win at Arsenal next week to keep their Champions League hopes alive.
Dortmund have not beaten rivals Schalke at home since May 2007 and Weidenfeller says the time has come to change all that.
"It's time for our next derby win," he said.
"We have to grab our points against Schalke."
