Wolfgang Overath resigns as Koln president

Koln president Wolfgang Overath has officially left his post at the club, he revealed on Sunday.At a meeting with the club's supervisory board, the 68-year-old announced his resignation, which takes effect immediately. He will be joined by vice-presidents Jurgen Glowacz and Friedrich Neukirch in stepping down.

"The decision is really difficult, because the FC were always close to my heart and will remain," Overath told the assembly.Overath, Glowacz and Neukirch released an official statement on the club's official website."At the end of today's members' meeting, we will resign from our positions as president and vice-presidents."Koln are well set up for the future.
