Bayern hit Bremen for six

Bayern Munich increased the pressure on Werder Bremen coach Robin Dutt as they cruised to a 6-0 victory over the bottom-placed Bundesliga club.

The game was over as a contest come half-time with Philipp Lahm, Xabi Alonso, Thomas Muller and Mario Gotze all on target before the interval.

Bayern were then able to conserve their energy in view of Tuesday's trip to Roma in the Champions League, still adding a fifth goal through Lahm and a sixth from Gotze.

As a result, the tension is now growing on Dutt, whose side have yet to win this season.

Dutt suggested on the eve of the game that his side did have a chance of getting something at the Allianz Arena, but that started to look unlikely when Lahm finally made the breakthrough in the 20th minute.

Muller knocked on David Alaba's cross and the former Germany captain sent an unstoppable shot past Rafael Wolf.

It was two seven minutes later when Xabi Alonso scored from a direct free-kick after both Muller and Alaba dummied a shot.

Bremen were already in damage limitation mode, but committing a foul in the penalty area - like Sebastian Prodl did on Muller - was not the best way to go about it.

Muller stepped up himself to beat Wolf and make it three two minutes before the interval.

There was more damage to come before the referee ended Bremen's first-half misery as Gotze beat Assani Lukimya before picking his spot in the corner of the net.

Bayern moved down the gears in the second half with Bremen aware that they were beaten too.

Only in the final 10 minutes did the hosts turn the screw with Lahm netting his second of the game form Xherdan Shaqiri's backheeled assist before Gotze grabbed his sixth goal of the season, taking Germany's World Cup winner to the top of the Bundesliga scoring charts.
