Sir Alex: "They have eight injured"

premier league live bettingManchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was pretty restrained after the historic 8-2 victory over Arsenal.

He admitted he did not expect such a turn of the game and give Londoners loss to many injuries in their camp.

He told Sky Sports: "When you play Arsenal you’re always expecting a really difficult game and but you have to look at the Arsenal team that was out there, a very weakened team.

"But you still have to do the job and for most of the game we did but we got a bit careless at times and Arsenal had some chances because they still have the quality up front.

"At the end of the day we’re very satisfied to keep the performance level up and it’s good to get these points."

Ferguson then went on to defend Arsene Wenger who has been criticised for weakening Arsenal by not yet replacing key players from last season in Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri.

"It’s unfair the criticism of the man, the job he’s done for Arsenal for such a long period," he continued.

"He’s kept his philosophy and the football they play; he’s given Arsenal some fantastic entertaining players.

"He’s always sold well which has always helped the Arsenal coffers and maybe people forget these things because we’re in a terrible cynical world now and when you lose a few games the judges are out.

"You see managers going early season many times in the past years unfairly and it keeps going."

As for the only dampener on the day for Manchester United, an injury to Danny Welbeck, the legendary boss admitted it was a big loss for his side.

He said: "Yeah it was a hamstring unfortunately and he was feeling it before and I couldn’t get him off quick enough to be honest.

"We had Hernandez warming up when he went for the run down the side. It’s unfortunate for us and for England too."
