Cagliari broke a negative record against Roma and beat the "wolves" in their own stadium for the first time in 27 games since. In the opening match of the round of Serie A, Sardinians prevailed ambitious opponent with 2-1.
Daniele Conti put the visitors ahead in the 68th minute and Roma were handed another blow 60 seconds later when Jose Angel was given his marching orders after a harsh tackle on Cagliari's Davide Biondini.
